IHC Volunteer of the Year – Nomination Form

This program recognizes members for their IHC volunteer activities. The award selection is based on a member’s volunteer activities in the previous calendar year. Board members are not eligible for this award. For a member to be considered for this award another member will have to submit this nomination form. Nomination forms must be submitted by February 15th.

A selection committee comprised of the Vice President, Activities Director and a Board member selected by the President will select three finalists from the submitted nominees. The Vice President will chair the selection committee. The names of all nominees, a photo and brief bio of each finalist will be in the April newsletter and in a flier handed out at the anniversary dinner/dance. The three finalists and their spouses will be given free tickets to the anniversary dinner/dance. Finalists must commit to attending the anniversary dinner/dance before their selection is finalized. The winner will be determined by member voting on the day of the anniversary dinner/dance and will be announced at the dinner. Voting will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Each finalist will receive a plaque and the winner will have their name engraved on the “Volunteer of the Year” plaque that will hang in the IHC lobby. The Membership Committee will be responsible for the administration of this program. This includes announcing the program each year in the January newsletter, making nomination forms available in the IHC lobby and website, doing the announcement in the April newsletter and the flier for the anniversary dinner, handling the voting process, taking care of the plaques and most importantly driving the success of the program.

Since 2007, the Italian Heritage Center supported
Operation Holiday Cheer at it’s annual Christmas party. OHC provides
a holiday gift to the children of Maine‘s military families in a show of
appreciation for the bravery and sacrifice of these children that share
their parent to defend our country. OHC resulted in the distribution of
over 8,000 gifts to over 140 cities and towns throughout the State of
Maine. Again this year, we are proud to help support this program and
are asking our members to donate NEW toys or make a financial
donation to help make this program a success. Please bring NEW
UNWRAPPED TOYS to the Adult Christmas Party that is being held on

An Italian buffet will be at 5:00 p.m. for $15 per person.

Dinner is optional but reservations are needed.

IHC Children’s Halloween Party 2011

Scary and Friendly costumes were seen at the 2011 IHC Children’s Halloween Party!  Fun day was had by all.  The kids had fun in a moon bounce.  They ate lunch (hot dogs and fries), decorated cookies and cupcakes with Halloween sprinkles and frosting. There was also a coloring table.  The kids had a Halloween Parade and played musical chairs, all to Halloween music.
